From Requirements to Real-world Execution.

Our references show how robust solutions are developed based on business requirements. We support organisations throughout the entire value chain – from analysis and design, through architecture and development, to integration, quality assurance and operations.

In doing so, we combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of processes, regulation and organisation. This results in solutions that are not merely defined on paper, but actually work in real-world operations and deliver lasting results.

API Performance for Modern e-Banking Platforms

An e-banking solution is being modernised and migrated to a cloud-based DevOps environment. A key aspect here is ensuring the performance of all systems involved under realistic operating conditions.

  • End-to-End Performance
  • Avaloq API-Layer
  • DevOps-Integration
  • Load & stress testing
  • Containerisation
  • Stable cloud operations

The new solution developed by beconn is closely integrated with the existing Avaloq banking suite, the associated API layers and a comprehensive security stack. This architecture offers a high degree of flexibility, but at the same time places complex demands on the performance, stability and end-to-end quality of the entire system landscape.

From strategy to operational implementation

The goal of this project was to ensure the performance of all systems involved under realistic operating conditions. beconn provided comprehensive support in the field of performance engineering – from design and set-up through to the execution and evaluation of automated tests.

Through the use of load, stress and endurance tests, various load and stress scenarios were simulated in order to precisely analyse the platform’s behaviour under real-world conditions. The insights gained from this served as the basis for identifying potential for optimisation and for the targeted further development of system performance.

Drawing on its many years of experience in test automation and performance testing, beconn thus ensured the stable, scalable and reliable operation of the new digital channel between the bank and its customers.

SoftwareDevelopement for the Banking Solution of Tomorrow

One of Switzerland’s largest banking groups is modernising its core banking system for over 11,000 users across some 900 locations — with beconn as its implementation partner since 2015.

  • Avaloq-Platform Migration
  • Payments & E-Banking
  • Test Automation
  • Credit & Financing
  • Reporting structures
  • Regulatory compliance

At the heart of this project was the aim of creating a modern, scalable banking platform that integrates complex processes, complies with regulatory requirements and can be continuously developed. A transformation programme on this scale requires not only technological excellence, but also close integration of business expertise, architecture and implementation.

From strategy to operational implementation

beconn has supported this strategic programme since its early stages as a long-term implementation partner with in-depth Avaloq expertise. From the outset, the focus has been not only on mapping complex banking processes from a technical perspective, but also on transitioning them sustainably into a future-proof platform architecture.

Our contributions ranged from migrating the banking software to Avaloq, through the implementation of key components in payment processing, interface management and e-banking, to the development of a proprietary test automation solution. In addition, we supported our client in the further development of credit processes and in the design of reporting and data structures.

A key focus was the ‘Financing’ process group, which worked actively on the further development and optimisation of credit processes within the Avaloq Banking Suite – with the aim of further increasing efficiency, quality and automation.

End-to-end Cyber Resilience with a Guaranteed Backup Solution

We designed, validated and commissioned a cyber-resilient backup solution for a client’s critical infrastructure – with the aim of creating a reliable defence against ransomware, human error and system failures, whether on-premises, in a hybrid environment or in the cloud.

  • cyber resilience
  • backup solution
  • failure-proof and attack-proof

The focus of this project was to ensure data integrity and recoverability under real-world failure and attack scenarios. beconn provided comprehensive expertise in the area of backup and recovery architecture – from design and implementation through to validation via regular restore and recovery tests.

From immutability to audit-proof documentation

The use of immutable backups based on the WORM principle, together with an air-gap and off-site replication strategy, ensured that at least one recovery copy remains logically or physically isolated from the production environment at all times. This means that the data remains intact and recoverable even in the event of an active ransomware attack.

Drawing on many years’ experience in backup architecture and cyber resilience, beconn has thus ensured operations that are audit-ready, hybrid-capable and regulatory-compliant – documented according to clearly defined RTO and RPO targets and verifiable at any time by internal committees and external auditors.

Automated Quality Assurance for a Modern Core Banking System

A core banking system is undergoing fundamental further development to meet new regulatory requirements whilst ensuring maximum flexibility in customisation. The focus is on the reliable quality assurance of a comprehensively revised object model.

  • Regression tests (1000+)
  • Test data migration
  • Continuous QA
  • object model migration
  • system coverage
  • test automation framework

The project comprised the phased modernisation of the system landscape, which involved migrating existing solutions to a new architecture and replacing them with sustainable alternatives. A high degree of automation was the key objective of this new strategy.

Ensuring system quality during ongoing operations

As part of this project, beconn supported the bank in the further development and enhancement of the existing test automation framework. Throughout the project, which lasted around two years, several thousand automated regression tests and synthetic test data sets were migrated to the new object model and continuously expanded.

In parallel with ongoing operations, beconn ensured that the system adaptations were thoroughly validated and that changes to the object model could be consistently verified. This ensured stable, scalable and sustainable quality assurance for the upgraded system landscape.

Transforming Legacy Systems into a Modern IT Portfolio

An IT service provider’s existing host applications in the social security sector are being gradually replaced by a modern target IT portfolio. The focus is on the secure transformation of legacy processes towards a modern, future-proof software architecture.

  • Sustainable IT Strategy

An IT centre of excellence for social insurance and compensation funds is gradually modernising its complex system landscape. As part of this process, the existing solution is being migrated to a new architecture and replaced by a sustainable long-term solution.

A smooth transition between operations and transformation

In this current engagement, beconn has been supporting the client since the start of the project throughout the entire transformation phase – from data migration and release management right through to the development of new system components.

During the phased roll-out of the new solution, the priority is to closely coordinate day-to-day IT operations with the parallel project implementation. During this challenging transition phase, a beconn specialist is responsible for the overall management and monitoring of all changes.

Based on clearly defined parameters, we support the client in balancing time, costs and business priorities against one another and in making well-informed decisions regarding the implementation of changes. The system can thus be modernised step by step without jeopardising live operations.

Open Banking as the Key to Unlocking New Market Potential

A leading British financial institution – one of the UK’s largest current account providers – is realigning its strategy and is consistently driving forward the development of open banking APIs.

  • Open Banking API
  • Avaloq platform migration
  • payment transactions and e-banking
  • process optimization
  • Digitalisation

At the heart of the project was the development of a scalable API landscape, enabling the secure exchange of financial data with third-party providers and thereby laying the foundations for new digital business models.

Building a scalable open banking ecosystem

beconn supported the financial institution in establishing the necessary technical and procedural foundations for open banking. The primary focus was on defining business requirements, as well as implementing and testing the open banking APIs in accordance with the regulatory specifications set out by the OBIE (Open Banking Implementation Entity).

As part of the effort to unlock new opportunities for interaction and business with third-party providers (TPPs), key operational and support processes were also redefined and established. Particular emphasis was placed on the introduction of incident management processes to provide structured support for external providers and internal customer processes.

In addition, beconn developed a set of dynamic reports that provide management with transparency regarding new business transactions at all times and enable active management of open banking activities.
